The 45th CUK Culture Award and the 16th Leprosy Culture Award Ceremony

△ Winners of the "45th CUK Culture Award" and "16th Leprosy Culture Award"
The Catholic University of Korea held the “45th CUK Culture Award” and the “16th Leprosy Culture Award” simultaneously. Beginning as the “Songsim Literature Award” in 1980, the “CUK Culture Award” is an annual art and literature contest hosted by the Catholic University of Korea Newspaper, and it is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year. The “Leprosy Culture Award” has been hosted annually by the Catholic University of Korea’s Leprosy Research Center and the University Newspaper since 2009 to promote a proper perspective on lepers.
A total of 61 works across four fields, including poetry, fiction, essay, and photography, were submitted to the 45th CUK Culture Award, of which six were awarded. In the poetry category, honorable mentions were awarded to Yong-hyun Kwon (Psychology 21) and Ye-rin Lee (Psychology 23). In the fiction category, an honorable mention was awarded to Il-gon Sung (Theology 18), and in the essay category, the winning prize was given to Yong-hyun Kwon (Psychology 21). In the photography category, Ye-rin Lee (Psychology 23) received the winning prize, and Sung-ho Park (Theology 20) was honored with an honorable mention.
The 16th Leprosy Culture Award took place the saem day. Soo-yeon Cha (Philosophy 20) was recognized with the grand prize for her poetry, praised for its excellence, while Hyun-jong Noh (Biomedical Sciences 21) received the runner-up prize for his essay.
President Jong-chul Won, stated in his congratulatory speech, “I hope this serves as a foundation for students to become individuals who provide new insights to themselves and others through literature. We will continue to root for our students in showcasing their talents in culture and the arts.”
