CUK Ranked ‘S Grade’ in the Ministry of Education's University Innovation Support Project

 The Catholic University of Korea (President Won Jong-cheol) has achieved the highest grade, ‘S Grade,’ which is evaluated as the best innovative university in Korea for four consecutive years. Following receiving the highest grade in the performance evaluations in 2020, 2021, and 2023, CUK also received the highest grade, S Grade, in the ‘2024 University Innovation Support Project' performance evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Education and National Research Foundation of Korea this year, further solidifying its position as the top innovative university in Korea.


 This performance evaluation was conducted focusing on three areas: △Innovation Strategy on Education △Core Educational Achievements △Self-Performance Management. In this evaluation, CUK was highly evaluated for actively establishing and implementing innovation strategies pn education that responds to the changing environment surrounding university including strengthening students’ right to choose their majors. Especially, it was highly evaluated for actively promoted the academic structure innovation innovation through ▲Flexibility and integration of academic affairs operations ▲Systematization of the application procedure to strengthen the right to choose majors ▲Providing modular degree programs with integrated majors as well as ▲Introduction of the DESIGNer grade system for freshmen to help freshmen choose their career paths ▲Operation of multiple faculty affiliations▲Introduction of a space circulation system.


 CUK has actively reflected the opinions of all university members, including students, faculty, and staff, in the process of establishing innovation strategies and has strived for innovation centered on education demanders. Since the 1st cycle of the university innovation support project began in 2019, communication and opinion collection with members have been set as autonomous performance indicators and systematically managed opinion collection. In particular, student-centered innovation was given the highest priority, as 52 cases (62.7%) of the total 83 opinion collections conducted in 2023 were from students. 


 The director of the planning office, Gu Bon-man, the person in charge of CUK Office of Planning and Cooperation said, “The reason why CUK was able to be evaluated as the best innovative university is all members of the university including students, professors, staff, and alumni participated and shared opinions to create the innovation strategy on education. CUK will continue to pursue extensive innovations encompassing the entire university for ‘student success’ and become the world’s best innovative university.”
