50 Catholic University Professors Named Among the "World's Top 2% Scientists"

50 professors from the Catholic University of Korea (CUK) have been recognized in the “2024 World’s Top 2% Scientists” list, selected by Elsevier, a global academic publisher, and Stanford University, highlighting their world-class research capabilities.
Elsevier and Stanford University select the top 2% scientists annually across 22 scientific fields and 174 subfields. Researchers are chosen based on their citation impact that are evaluated using SCOPUS, among those who have published at least five papers.
This year, CUK had 50 researchers included on the list, including those who covered both the lifetime achievements and single-year impact categories.
Based on lifetime achievements, 19 researchers were included in the list, including Jin-han Kang (Vaccine Bio Research Institute), Mi-kyung Kwak (College of Pharmacy), Hee-beom Koo (Medical and Biological Sciences), Pil Kim (Biotechnology), Hee-seung Kim (Nursing), Geon Na (Biomedical Chemical Engineering), Won-sang Park (Pathology), Joon-beom Park (Dentistry), Chul-hwi Park (Nephrology), Chi-woon Bae (Psychiatry), Kyo-young Song (Surgery), Cheol-woo Yang (Internal Medicine), Jung-ho Wi (Energy & Environmental Engineering), Seung-kyu Yoon (Gastroenterology), Kyung-il Lee (Pediatrics), Seok-hyung Lee (Pathology), Eun-seong Lee (Biomedical Chemical Engineering), Joo-young Lee (College of Pharmacy), and Gwang-jae Cho (Otolaryngology).
For the single-year performance in 2023, 46 researchers were selected, including Yong-gu Kim (Laboratory Medicine), Mo-yeol Kang (Occupational and Environmental Medicine), Han-chang Kang (College of Pharmacy), Do-hyun Kim (Otolaryngology), Myeong-shin Kim (Laboratory Medicine), Seong-won Kim (Otolaryngology), Jeong-hee Kim (Clinical Nursing), Jin-seong Kim (Neurosurgery), Heon-seong Kim (Endocrinology), Hye-seong Kim (Dermatology), Hee-joo Kim (Clinical Nursing), Gyeong-seon Na (Ophthalmology), Seong-hwan Park (Rheumatology), Hye-young Park (Ophthalmology), Myeong-jun Song (Gastroenterology), Geon-ho Yoon (Internal Medicine), Suk-gyeong Lee (Medical and Biological Sciences), Seung-hwan Lee (Endocrinology), Jin-guk Lee (Pulmonology), Hyeong-jin Lee (Neurosurgery), Hye-yeon Lee (Pulmonology), Hye-ok Lee (Microbiology), Jeong-won Jang (Gastroenterology), So-ryeong Jung (Radiology), Chan-kwon Jung (Pathology), Dong-uk Jegal (Laboratory Medicine), Mi-ra Cho (Pathology), Yong-yeon Cho (College of Pharmacy), Ji-hyun Joo (Rheumatology), Moon-hyung Choi (Radiology), and Se-hwan Hwang (Otolaryngology).
