Space Design and Consumer Studies Department wins seven national awards  

with industry-academia collaboration outcome 

 △ Students from the Department of Space Design and Consumer Studies have won seven awards in national competitions with projects created as part of industry-academia collaboration classes. 


 The Department of Space Design and Consumer Studies at our university had the honor of winning seven awards in national competitions for its outcomes from industry-academia collaboration with ▲Sis Design and ▲The 4th Space Co., Ltd.


 

 In the second semester of 2024, the Department of Space Design and Consumer Studies partnered with the well-known furniture brand “Sis Design” and the plastic circular economy system builder “The 4th Space Co., Ltd.” to run its “Comprehensive Furniture Design” course as an industry-linked program to strengthen students' practical skills. Students who participated in the course submitted furniture they created with the expertise gained from academic and industry professionals, winning seven awards at the 17th Space Design Competition.  


 

 One team (Jung Yu-nae, Ahn Su-yong, Lee Chae-yeon) was selected for the Excellence Award, and six teams (Kim Na-yeon, Na Yu-jin, and Lee Su-bin; Yang Hyeong-seok, Kim Gi-jung, and Lee Eun-pyo; Noh Hyo-rim, Kim Na-ri, and Cho Won-hee; Kim Min-jeong, Park Jang-hwi, and Kim Yeon-kyung; Park Geum-nan, Park Jae-eun, and Cho Chae-yeon; and Kim Yu-min, Lee Yu-na, and Kim Hyun-woo) received Honorable Mentions. 


 

 The Department of Space Design and Consumer Studies and Sis Design exhibited some of the furniture pieces created as part of the course at the Sis Design Pangyo Showroom, to provide students with diverse practical experience. This exhibition, now held three years in a row, allows students to showcase their furniture to the general public at the Sis Design Pangyo Showroom, which allows them to assess market reaction and hone their practical skills.
 
 

 Jeon Nam-il, Head of the Department of Space Design and Consumer Studies, said, "In the 'Comprehensive Furniture Design' course offered by our department, we provide in-depth education on convergent design based on an understanding of design trends, customer needs, human behavior, and lifestyles. We will continue to provide support at various angles to help students develop the design product planning capabilities that are highly valued in the industry."
